ELECTROSTATIC PRECIPITATORS
Electrostatic Precipitator, a large industrial emissioncontrol equipment, designed to arrest and eliminate dust particles from the exhaust gas stream, ensures a clean and green environment by typically collecting 99.9% or more of the dust from the gas stream.
Hot exhaust gases in industries is laden with dust particles which aregenerated in the various processes. These suspended particulate matter (SPM) pass through the electrostatic precipitator spares which collects most of the dust. Clean gas then passes out of the precipitator and through a stack to the atmosphere.
In the ESP, the dust particles are electrostatically charged and then attracted to and deposited on Collecting Plates. On accumulation of enough dust, the Plates are rappeddue to which the dust gets dislodged andby gravitational force, fall into hoppers below. The dust is then removed by a conveyor system for disposal or recycling.
Based on the Gas Composition, velocity, volume etc, sizes, types and designs of electrostatic precipitators vary. Sometimes multiple parallel ESP's are used in very large power plants.
